Memphis, TN

Gephart Electric was the prime design-build contractor to the City of Memphis for the construction of a cogeneration facility at the M.C. Stiles WWTF.  Biogas generated by the wastewater treatment process was captured, conditioned and delivered to the power generation system.  A 12,470 volt internal combustion generator was placed to consume the conditioned biogas.  The generator power was delivered to the utility company for resale to offset the overall electric utility costs for the entire plant.  This project was completed on-time and under budget, with an expectation of reduced emissions of approximately 4,624 tons per year and annual power savings in excess of $650,000 per year.
