Memphis, TN

Gephart Electric was awarded a design-build contract by the City of Memphis to provide a cogeneration facility at its M.C. Stiles WWTF under the DOE Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.  This new facility will divert waste biogas from the plant’s sludge lagoons through a conditioning system and then to an internal combustion generator which will consume the biogas and produce electric power for resale to the utility and heat to a forced air heating unit within the existing facility.  The City will realize hundreds of thousands of dollars per year in net utility power savings, and will reduce the current plant emissions by over 4,500 tons per year.  The facility is expected to be operational by April of 2012
