Choctaw Casino Resort
THE PROJECT
Gephart was responsible for the electrical and low voltage construction of the expansion of the Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma. We provided turn-key Design/Assist services for both the electrical and low voltage systems work on the project. Construction started in June 2008, with a project completion date of February 8, 2010.
The 500,706 SF project features 110,000 SF of gaming space with 3,000 slots, 38 table games and a separate 30-table poker room. Nine food venues provide a variety of dining options from fast food and buffet to fine dining. Several retail offerings are provided as well as two lounge areas, including one with a performance stage venue. The new 12-floor hotel tower offers 330 guest rooms with 22 suites, and includes a business center, fitness room, spa and natatorium.
OUR PLANNING
Because of the multitude of projects involved, Gephart’s early Design/Assist expertise was a necessity for this project. We worked openly with the architect, Worth Group Associates, and Engineer, Giovanetti, Shulman Associates which allowed us to coordinate and plan in order to prevent delays and further expenses. Gephart focused on the critical path to meet or beat all milestone dates set.
OUR WORK
Knowing and anticipating the needs of the project we proactively worked to address each challenge encountered. As we were well underway with the project, it was decided to move the surveillance and data centers from the existing casino to the second floor of the new structure requiring additional power, UPS systems, LV backbone cabling and cooling to be worked into the job. We also needed to find a space on the property for the remote chiller plant and be able to get it on line in time to dehumidify the building for interior finishes. This required pumps, VFD’s, roof top AHU’s and controls all needing to be operational several months before opening.
SUCCESS
We place a large focus on the quality and completeness of our work and we were able to finish the project under budget and two months ahead of the contracted completion date.
