March 2017 – Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort Awarded Best Hotel at Covey Awards – D’Iberville, MS
The Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort was awarded the grand prize of “Best Hotel” at the annual Mississippi Gulf Coast’s Observer Covey Awards. Gephart was the design-assist electrical contractor for the project and delivered all of the electrical and low voltage systems work within a 15-month schedule. The property features an 18-story, 300-room hotel; a 213,000 SF casino on an elevated platform with 1,400 slot machines, four restaurant venues, an event center, and a 36-hole championship level miniature golf course. We are proud to be a part of the team that built this beautiful property.
March 2017 – Gephart Awarded Mystic Lake Main Mystic Circle and Central Plant – Shakopee, MN
Building on our longstanding relationship with both the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux and PCL Construction, Gephart has been awarded the Mystic Lake Central Plant and Main Mystic Circle projects. The new Central Plant will house the main electrical and mechanical systems critical to support upcoming casino renovations. The Main Mystic Circle renovation will upgrade the existing casino space and bring electrical branch systems to new standards. Work is expected to commence in April and is schedule for completion in December of 2017.
March 2017 – Gephart Awarded The Blake School Hopkins Campus Renewal Projects – Hopkins, MN
Adding to our strong Design-Build private school portfolio, Gephart has been selected by Mortenson Construction as the electrical contractor for The Blake School Campus Renewal Projects. The primary goals of the renovation include updating campus infrastructure, providing better circulation and accessibly, and increasing campus security. Additions will be made to the both the Dining Room and Lobby, while classrooms and corridors will be upgraded. Work is expected to commence this summer and be complete by the start of the 2019 school year.
March 2017 – Gephart Awarded Carleton College Science Building – Northfield, MN
Gephart has been selected by McGough Construction as the electrical contractor for the Carleton College Science Building & East Energy Station in Northfield, MN. The project includes demolition of an existing building and construction of a new 108,194 SF science wing complete with labs, classrooms and shared services spaces. In addition to the science building, existing adjacent buildings will be renovated and a new energy station will be constructed in the sub-basement of the science building. Construction is expected to commence this summer and be complete by January 2021. This will be Gephart’s third college science building in the past five years and adds to the list of dozens of Higher Education projects we have completed over the last two decades.
February 2017 – Work Underway at Methodist University Hospital – Memphis, TN
Work has commenced at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN. The project consists of approximately 485,000 SF of new construction, including a vertical expansion over the existing Emergency Department and expansion over Eastmoreland Drive. The second phase will include removal and re-installation of existing helipad, demolition of 8-story “crews building,” and over 90,000 SF of phased renovation work. Gephart Electric was brought in and, after 2 months of meetings and problem solving, was able to present nearly $5M in target cost alignment ideas including a complete redesign of the electrical distribution system to get the project back on track and in-budget.
February, 2017 – Minnesota Senate Building Awarded DBIA-UMR Project of the Year – St. Paul, MN
The Upper Midwest Region of the Design-Build Institute of America has recognized the Minnesota Senate Building, submitted by Mortenson, with the Design-Build Excellence Award in the category of Government Buildings, as well as Project of the Year. Gephart performed all electrical and low voltage work on this four-story, 160,000 SF office complex built over a 264-space parking ramp. The building houses 67 state senators, their respective staff, and includes three committee hearing rooms and a 250-seat theater-style hearing room large enough to accommodate House floor sessions. Congratulations to our longtime partner Mortenson on this prestigious award!
February 2017 – Gephart Electric Awarded MN Vikings Headquarters and Indoor Practice Facility – Eagan, MN
Building on the strong relationship forged with the Minnesota Vikings during the construction of US Bank Stadium, Gephart has been selected by Kraus-Anderson Construction Company as the electrical contractor for the Minnesota Vikings Headquarters and Indoor Practice Facility. The new team headquarters, located in Eagan, MN, will include a team auditorium, player position meeting rooms, media facilities, locker room, weight room, new office space for Vikings staff members, and more. Gephart is pleased to be partnering once again Kraus-Anderson, a leader in the Twin Cities construction market.
January 2017 – Gephart Electric Awarded MN United Soccer Stadium – St. Paul, MN
Gephart has been selected as the design-assist electrical contractor for the MN United Soccer Stadium in St. Paul, MN. This 20,000-seat, open air stadium will become home to the MN United Football Club for the 2019 season. MN United FC joins the ranks of Major League Soccer in 2017 and will be playing their home games at TCF Bank Stadium until completion of their new home. This project continues Gephart’s involvement on all of the Major League sports facilities that have been built in the St. Paul / Minneapolis market: Xcel Energy Center home of the NHL Wild, Target Field home of the MLB Twins, Target Center home of the NBA Timberwolves and US Bank Stadium home of the NFL Vikings. It also has us working once again with our longtime partner Mortenson Construction.
December 2016 – Gephart Electric Awarded MN Wild Practice Facility – St. Paul, MN
Gephart has been awarded the Minnesota Wild Practice Facility project in downtown St. Paul. This design-build project consists of a new 65,000 SF, world class NHL training facility – including an ice rink – to be built on the 5th floor of the Wabasha Center (formerly Macy’s Department Store). Also located below ground level will be training and nutritional facilities to rival the current amenities at the Xcel Energy Center and team access to the rink via private elevator. Gephart will be installing Power, Lighting, Specialty Lighting, Fire Alarm, Security, and Communications Systems. The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2017. This project further solidifies our place in the Sports Facilities market and highlights the great relationships we have established and maintained over the years with the Wild and RJM Construction.
December 2016 – Gephart Electric Awarded Four Winds Casino, South Bend, IN.
Building on our longstanding relationship with the Pokagon Band of Patawatomi, Gephart Electric has been awarded the Four Winds Casino project in South Bend, IN. Work commenced December 19, 2016 on this 177,500 square foot new construction casino. It will be the fourth Four Winds property constructed by Gephart Electric with other properties in Dowagiac, MI, New Buffalo, MI and Harford, MI.
December 2016 – Gephart Electric Completes Lakeside Behavioral Healthcare Project in Bartlett, TN
Gephart’s Mississippi office recently completed this 48-bed patient wing and new ECT Clinic for Universal Health Systems. This design-build, IPD project was also our first with national healthcare constructor DeAngelis Diamond Healthcare Group.
October 2016 – Gephart and Gunnar Awarded 2016 CPP Partnership of the Year, Minneapolis, MN
Gephart Electric and Gunnar Electric have been awarded the 2016 Construction Partnering Program (CPP) Partnership of the Year Award. This award is given annually to the CPP partnership that best embodies the true commitment to the program and to each other. The Construction Partnering Program (CPP) is a program that creates increased opportunities for majority and minority owned firms in the construction industry. The intent of the program is to develop mutually beneficial partnerships between established contractors and minority or women (M/WBE) owned firms to support a sustainable and robust pool of contractors. Gephart and Gunnar announced their partnership in 2009 and since that time their collaboration has meant significant growth and success for both companies. Working on over a dozen significant projects together – including the Minnesota Twins Target Field and the Minnesota Vikings’ US Bank Stadium – the two companies have become one of the go-to partnerships in the local construction scene. Given the continuing focus on diversity and inclusion in construction, especially on large, visible projects with elements of public funding or financing, it is sure to be a partnership that will be successful for years to come.
June 2016 – Minnesota Vikings’ US Bank Stadium Completed A Month Ahead of Schedule, Minneapolis, MN
Gephart Electric – as a part of the Build 23 joint venture with Parsons Electric – was a key member of the construction team that delivered this 1.7M SF, 65,000-seat, $1B+ stadium project a month early. Starting in the summer of 2013, our team performed all electrical and technology systems installations including: High Voltage Service and Distribution, LED Lighting, Lighting Controls, Foodservice Equipment, HVAC Equipment, Sports Lighting, Theatrical Lighting, Voice/Data, Bowl and Concourse Sound Systems, Broadcast Cabling, Access Control / CCTV, IPTV, Fire Alarm, DAS and WiFi. Highlights of the project included 150 suites, 7,000 club seats, gift shops, restaurants, a museum, and Hall of Fame. Equally important to the project’s success, was the achievement of the workforce and small business goals set for minorities, women and veterans. Gephart worked hand-in-hand with our woman-owned partner Gunnar Electric and other partners as we exceeded these goals
March 2016 – Gephart LVS Awarded Target Center Renovation, Minneapolis, MN
Gephart Low Voltage Systems has been awarded the Minnesota Timberwolves Target Center renovation project. As part of this 3-phase project to be completed in the fall of 2017, Gephart Low Voltage Systems will install Voice/Data Cabling, Access Control, CCTV Surveillance, Broadcast Cabling & Equipment, Digital Signage, Display/TV Replacement & Additions, Bowl Audio, CATV and Audio Visual Systems throughout the facility.
March 2016 – Gephart Electric Earns Outstanding U of M Safety Rating, Minneapolis, MN
Gephart Electric has earned a University of Minnesota Safety Score of 9.8 out of 10 in the University’s latest round of contractor safety evaluations. Our score is based on such criteria as the strength of our environmental, health and safety programs; our ability to plan our work so we identify potential hazards before we begin working; and our history of making sure all of our subcontractors on U of M projects are in compliance with the U of M’s safety polices. Having completed over 50 projects for the University of Minnesota, Gephart has proven repeatedly that we are one of the University’s most accomplished construction partners.
January 2016 – Gephart Electric Awarded Target Center Renovation, Minneapolis, MN
Building on our extensive sports facility experience and our decades-old relationship with Mortenson Construction, Gephart has been awarded the renovation of the Target Center, home to the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves. This 3-phase project begins this spring and will be completed by the fall of 2017. Facility improvements will be made to the suites, lobby, locker rooms, dressing rooms and more. A new scoreboard will be installed and the exterior of the building will take on a new look as well.
March 2016 – Laura Karow, Gunnar Electric, Receives WaveMaker Unchartered Territory Award
Gephart congratulates Gunnar Electric’s President, Laura Karow, on winning the 2016 WaveMaker Unchartered Territory Award! The Unchartered Territory Award is given to a woman who has excelled in a typically male-dominated profession or industry. The WaveMaker Awards are hosted by TeamWomenMN’s Young Professionals Board to recognize and honor up-and-coming, high-potential women who demonstrate outstanding achievement, an entrepreneurial spirit, and inspirational initiative through leadership within their profession and their community. Gephart and women-owned Gunnar Electric have been in a Construction Partnering Program (CPP) partnership since 2009 and have worked closely together on such projects as the MN Twins Target Field, Minneapolis Public Schools’ District Headquarters and MN Vikings U.S. Bank Stadium.

Working with longtime partner Roy Anderson Corporation, Gephart delivered this fast-track, design-assist project in D’lberville, MS that features an 18-story, 300-room, 202,000 SF hotel tower; a 213,000 SF casino on an elevated platform with 1,400 slot machines; and four restaurant venues, an event center, and a 36-hole championship level mini-golf course.
June 2015 – Gephart Electric Adds Healthcare and Higher Education Markets Support
Gephart’s Minnesota office recently hired a new Assistant Project Manager. Beau Mannino will be supporting our Higher Ed efforts.
June 2015 – Gephart Electric’s Ben Cotroneo Receives Mortenson Pinnacle Award
Gephart Superintendent Ben Controneo has received Mortenson Construction’s Pinnacle Performer Award for his leadership of the University of Minnesota Centennial Hall project. On each major project, Mortenson singles out one team member for doing his or her part to make sure the Mortenson experience is the best building experience it can be. Kudos to Ben for a job extremely well done!
May 2015 – Vikings Stadium Project Reaches Halfway Mark in Minneapolis, MN
An important milestone was reached in the building of the new MN Vikings Stadium – the halfway point of construction. Gephart Electric – as a part of the Build 23 joint venture with Parsons Electric – has been working on the project since it started over a year ago. In advance of the July 29th, 2016 construction deadline, the Mortenson/Thor-led construction team has already poured over 80,000+ cubic yards of structural concrete and completed well over $400M worth of work. Nine hundred construction workers have logged more than a million man-hours with the project expecting to peak at 1,100 workers onsite in the spring of 2016. Equally important to the project’s mission, 40% of the participating workers to date have been minorities, women and veterans.
May 2015 – Gephart Electric Begins Work on New Baptist Memorial Healthcare Replacement Hospital in Oxford, MS
Gephart’s Mississippi office began work this month on the new 590,000 SF, full-service, greenfield replacement hospital in Oxford, MS. Gephart was selected as the design-assist partner for this project. Already Gephart has successfully saved 10% in electrical costs on the project through design-assist and pre-construction efforts. We are proud to once again partner with Robins and Morton and add to our list of recent successful projects with Baptist Memorial Healthcare.
May 2015 – Gephart Electric Awarded Lakeside Behavioral Healthcare Project in Bartlett, TN
Gephart’s Mississippi office was selected to be the design-build partner for this true IPD project for Universal Health Systems out of King of Prussia, PA. This project will be a stand-alone facility with a 48-bed patient wing as well as a new ECT Clinic. The project will be Gephart’s first with national healthcare constructor DeAngelis Diamond Healthcare Group headquartered in Naples, FL.
March 2015 – Gephart Electric Awarded Crestwyn Behavioral Healthcare Facility in Germantown, TN
Gephart’s Mississippi office was awarded this 61,000 SF new Behavioral Healthcare Facility. The project includes a 48-bed patient wing as well as interior and exterior activities spaces. This project adds to our list of projects with national healthcare contractor Robins and Morton.
December 2014 – Gephart Electric Lands U of MN Mechanical Engineering Building Project in Minneapolis, MN
Working with Mortenson construction, Gephart will be renovating the existing 1940’s-built Mechanical Engineering Building at the University of Minnesota. This phased project will be happening as the building remains occupied and will include building a temporary 1600A electric service as the old service is removed and all the components of a new one are installed. The work will also include new lighting, lighting control, power, fire alarm, access control, telecom, building fiber connections, CCTV, cable tray, UPS, Inverter, HVAC and Mechanical equipment connections.
December 2014 – Gephart Electric Awarded Guesthouse at Graceland Project in Memphis, TN
Gephart’s Mississippi office is excited to work in one of the world’s most visited homes, Graceland. This new 450-room hotel will be adjacent to the Graceland Mansion and feature several amenities including two restaurants, spaces for meetings and special events and a 500-seat theater for live performances and movies. This project is another in our list of successful gaming and hospitality projects with Memphis based architect, Hnedak Bobo Group and general contractor, Flintco, LLC.
November 2014 – Gephart Electric’s Taylor and Belue Earn ASHE HCC Certificates
Gephart Director of Pre-construction and Business Development Scott Taylor and Director of Operations Michael Belue recently completed their ASHE Health Care Construction Certificate training in Nashville. Dubbed “the stamp of approval” by many hospitals, clinics and general contractors, the ASHE HCC proves to health care organizations that you have been properly trained to work in a health care construction environment.
November 2014 – Gephart Electric Supports the American Heart Association (AHA)
On November 1st, Gephart teamed with Baptist Memorial Healthcare and Robins & Morton Construction in participating in the AHA’s Heart Walk in Memphis, TN. Gephart’s Mississippi had 100% managerial and field supervision team participation and raised over $1,000 for the AHA. The Heart Walk is the AHA’s premier fundraising event in their effort to save lives from this country’s #1 and #4 killers – heart disease and stroke. Learn more at http://www.heartwalk.org/.
October 2014 – Gephart Electric Awarded Metro State Science Education Building in St. Paul, MN
Working with long-time partner Mortenson Construction, Gephart has been awarded Metropoliton State University’s Science Education Center project. The 60,000 SF facility will include various labs, classrooms, a cold room, faculty office space, etc.
October 2014 – Gephart Electric Awarded Le Bonheur Physician’s Office Building in Memphis, TN
Gephart’s Mississippi office is excited to partner with Turner Construction to complete the new, three-story Physician’s Office Building for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. This facility is a fast-track project utilizing Gephart’s expertise and resources in prefabrication and lean construction practices to meet an aggressive 6-month schedule.
September 2014 – Gephart Electric Awarded DataBank Data Center in Eagan, MN
Gephart looks forward to partnering with JE Dunn Construction in turning the former 88,000 SF Taystee Foods building into a regional data center. The fast-track project will be completed in May 2015.
September 2014 – Gephart Electric Awarded Shelby Farms Park Heart of the Park Project in Memphis, TN
Gephart’s Mississippi office began work this month on an exciting project to expand Patriot Lake from 52 acres to nearly 80 acres, and construct 8 new facilities including a new Visitor Center and Rustic Retreat Center. Gephart Electric will install an entirely new electrical distribution system throughout the park and install new LED roadway and walking trail pathway lighting.
September 2014 – Gephart Electric Expands Healthcare Market Group
This month Gephart added two key players to its Healthcare Market Group led by Craig Dolby. Andy Scarr joined Gephart as a Project Manager and brings with him a strong resume having been both a Foreman and Project Manager. Over the last 34 years, Andy has been involved in numerous healthcare projects ranging from clinic to hospital work and has led multi-million dollar jobs. Brad Kanis also brings a field perspective to his new role as a Project Manager in the Healthcare Group. With 31 years at Gephart – many of them spent as a General Foreman on healthcare projects – our clients appreciate Brad’s ability to apply his field experience to their projects, especially when looking for ways to drive the schedule and keep costs in line.
September 2014 – Gephart Electric Opens Mississippi Gulf Coast Office
Gephart has opened a new office in D’lberville, MS in support of the Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort project. This 215,000 SF project will feature a 17-story hotel tower, 1,500 gaming positions and a 36-hole championship-level mini-golf course. The fast-track, design-assist project is slated for completion by the 2015 holiday season. The Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort continues Gephart’s successful 20-year stretch of major project work with Roy Anderson Corp.
August 2014 – Gephart Electric Awarded Baldwin Area Medical Center in Baldwin, WI
Gephart is pleased to have another opportunity to work with Boldt Construction – this time on a new, 102,400 SF medical center in Baldwin, WI. Working with MEP Associates on a design-assist basis, Gephart is handling all electrical work for this facility which will include imaging equipment, an Emergency Department, two operating rooms, pre/post-surgery rooms, patient rooms, a clinic and a fitness center. The BAMC is scheduled to open in the spring of 2016.
June 2014 – Brian Binkley Licensed in Two Additional States
Gephart Design Manager Brian Binkley has added two Professional Engineer licensures to his portfolio. Brian is now licensed in Arkansas and Tennessee which will be especially helpful to Gephart’s Mississippi operation which does significant work in the region.
February 2014 – Gephart Electric Hires Brian Binkley, P.E., NICET as Design Manager
Gephart is pleased to announce Brian Binkley is joining our team. Coming from Gausman & Moore Associates where he spent 12 years working in and leading their Target Electrical Program, Brian brings a wealth of engineering and leadership experience to his new role as Design Manager at Gephart. Brian is charged with managing all aspects of our design department ranging from operations to strategic projects with the goal of maximizing the value of our design-related functions for our clients.
January 2014 – Gephart Electric’s Dolby and Ehrenberg Earn ASHE HCC Certificates

Dubbed “the stamp of approval” by many hospitals, clinics and general contractors, the ASHE HCC proves to health care organizations that you have been properly trained to work in a health care construction environment.
January 2014 – Gephart Electric Awarded Pyramid Arena Redevlopment Project in Memphis, TN
This iconic sports venue (at 321 feet tall it is the 7th largest pyramid in the world) has been replaced by the FedEx Forum and is now being redeveloped into a 220,000 SF Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World retail store. The new facility will also feature a hotel, bowling alley, restaurants and more. Gephart will be working with Montgomery Martin Contractors on the project.
December 2013 – Gephart Electric Awarded Baptist Memorial Hospital Project
In conjunction with Robins & Morton, Gephart has been awarded the Baptist Memorial Hospital – Memphis Pediatric Emergency Room Expansion. This is our first project with Robins & Morton – one of the nation’s leading healthcare builders – and the latest in a series of recent successful projects with Baptist Memorial Hospital.
November 2013 – Gephart Electric Honored by the VHEDC
Gephart was recently awarded 2013 Business of the Year by the Vadnais Heights Economic Development Council. The Council gives the award each year to businesses that demonstrate outstanding commitment to their employees and to volunteer leadership in the community.
October 2013 – Gephart Electric’s John Peterson Receives Mortenson Award

October 2013 – Gephart Electric Completes Mystic Lake Alcohol Implementation Project
Once again working with Mystic Lake partner PCL Construction, Gephart has completed a key project at Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, MN. Now having the ability to sell alcoholic beverages, Mystic Lake needed to renovate a portion of the existing gaming floor to add four new bars. Gephart completed all the electrical, low voltage, fire alarm, and surviellance elements of the project.
September 2013 – Gephart Awarded MN State Capitol Renovation Work Pack #1
Working with JE Dunn and HGA, Gephart is embarking on the first phase of this historic renovation of Miinnesota’s108-year-old State Capitol. Work Pack 1 involves demoing the terrace or basement level which houses the electrical vault, main IT rooms, Security Room, etc. All of our work will take place while the Capitol remains occupied and operational.
August 2013 – Build 23 Awarded MN Multi-Purpose Stadium Preconstruction Contract
We are pleased to announce that Build 23 – a joint venture of Gephart Electric and Parsons Electric – has been awarded the electrical preconstruction contract for the Minnesota Multi-Purpose Stadium. The new home of the Minnesota Vikings will be a landmark structure in the state’s construction history and Build 23 is proud to have earned a roster spot on the M.A. Mortenson/Thor construction team.
July 2013 – Gephart Electric Awarded University of Memphis Community Health Facility
Continuing our successful partnership with Hoar Construction, Gephart is part of the largest construction project in the history of the University of Memphis. This 195,700 SF, 4-story facility is located on the South Campus and will be home to both the Loewenberg School of Nursing and the School of Audiology and Speech.
July 2013 – Gephart Electric Awarded First Baptist Church Project
Working directly with First Baptist Church of Minneapolis, MN, this design-build project includes work on the audio/visual system power and low voltage raceways.
July 2013 – Gephart Electric Awarded Upsher-Smith Addition
Partnering with Ryan Companies, this 130,000SF expansion project in Maple Grove, MN will include a warehouse, laboratories and three stories of new office space. The project will wrap up in August of 2014.
July 2013 – Gephart Electric Awarded Preconstruction Services for the MN State Capitol Project
Gephart has been hired by the State of Minnesota and JE Dunn construction to work with HGA Engineering in a design-assist capacity to finalize the electrical design intent of this $272M historic renovation project.
June 2013 – Gephart Electric Awarded Fairview Southdale ER Expansion
Working with Knutson Construction, Gephart is pleased to continue its decade-long relationship with one of the premier hospitals in Minnesota. Fairview Southdale’s expanded Emergency Department will double in square footage, go from 30 to 43 rooms and now include 18 observation beds. The project will be completed in the summer of 2015.
May 2013 – Gephart Completes Remodel of Goldstrike Casino Buffet
Working with longtime client Goldstrike Casino in Robinsonville, MS, Gephart wrapped up the Americana Buffet renovation. Construction included food serving stations, salad bar and dessert bar, beverage stations and a wine and beer station. Lighting included custom lighting fixtures and a Lutron Dimming System.
April 2013 – Gephart Electric Awarded Chicago Tube & Iron Project
This 40,000 SF, design-build warehouse project in Eagan, MN will be done with Opus Construction.
February 2013 – Gephart Awarded Mayo Clinic Health Systems Cannon Falls Replacement Hospital
Gephart is very pleased to have an opportunity to work with Boldt Construction, Mayo Clinic Health System and Dunham in bringing the Cannon Falls Replacement Hospital to life. The new hospital – to be completed in the Fall of 2014 – will include an Emergency Department, Critical Care and treatment rooms as well as clinic exam rooms, an operating room, pre-post surgery rooms, patient rooms and x-ray, CT, endoscopy, uiltrasound and mammography rooms.
February 2013 – Gephart Electric Awarded MN Correctional Facility – Faribault Medium Voltage Project
Working directly for MCF-Faribault, Gephart is upgrading the entire facility’s medium voltage cabling system from 4160V to 13,800V. Project completion is scheduled for 2014.
November 2012 – Gephart Electric Awarded Rocky Gap Casino in Flintstone, MD
Building on our longstanding Gaming market relationships with Lakes Entertainment and Kraus-Anderson, Gephart will be renovating 30,700 SF of convention space into a 550-slots gaming facility. The project will also include a future expansion of the existing hotel into new convention space,a new parking lot, new outbuildings and electrical service improvements including a new generator and UPS. Gephart is providing design-assist electrical and design-build low voltage services.
November 2012 – Gephart Electric Awarded Minneapolis Community Technical College Renovation
Working with Mortenson Construction, this 72,000 SF project involves upgrading multiple areas within the facility including the welding shop, at least two labs, several classrooms and common areas. There will also be upgrades to the infrastructure and generator. Everything is scheduled to be completed by September of 2013.
November 2012 – Gephart Electric Awarded Ridgedale YMCA Addition
Teaming with Watson-Forsberg, Gephart continues its history of YMCA work with this 20,000 SF addition which will house exercise machines and free weights. Gephart will also be remodeling areas of the existing building and providing decorative exterior lighting.
October 2012 – Gephart Awarded Four Winds Dowagiac Casino in Dowagiac, MI
Once again teaming with Christman/Kraus-Anderson and the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi, Gephart is pleased to be part of the construction of this brand new, 300-slots casino. This 27,000 SF gaming facility is a smaller version of the Four Winds Hartford Casino the same team completed in 2011. Gephart and local partner IBID County Electric will provide complete electrical and low voltage systems design-assist and installation services.
October 2012 – Gephart Electric Awarded Intel Office Renovation
This Turner Construction project continues Gephart’s work in the Centennial Lakes property in Edina, MN. The 10,355 SF remodel includes electrical lighting and power changes on the 4th floor which is also home to a data center and bench lab.
October 2012 – Gephart Electric Awarded Ole Miss Central Mechanical Plant – Primary Electric
Continuing our work at the University or Mississippi (Ole Miss), Gephart will be installing new primary power from an existing substation to the Central Mechanical Plant. The project includes two, 3000kVA pad-mount transformers, one pad-mount switch, two nine-way sectionalizing cabinets, one sectionalizing pull box and a primary switch cabinet.
September 2012 – Gephart Awarded Hmong Academy
In partnership with RJM Construction, Gephart will be remodeling and adding an addition to this Minneapolis school. The project will include classrooms, a gymnasium and an auditorium.

Gephart is pleased to continue our relationships with Lockheed Martin and RJM Construction with this 80,000 SF remodel of office/warehouse space into a new technology center. The new office/lab area will support Advanced Technology Lab work on such things as aircraft and marine navigation and air traffic control. Working for Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare, Gephart will be replacing an existing 305kw generator with a new 400kw generator at the Memphis, TN facility.
July 2012 – Gephart Electric Awarded U of MN Keller and Vincent Halls Interior Improvements
Working with our new partner Loeffler Construction, Gephart will be installing lighting, power and systems upgrades to four classrooms in Keller and Vincent Halls at the University of Minnesota.
April 2012 – Gephart Completes Columbus Air Force Base Lighting Retrofit
Working on a design-build basis, Gephart replaced all of the high bay lighting on this Mississippi base with T5 fluorescent strip lighting with occupancy sensors. We also designed and installed lighting controls in a variety of buildings including aircraft hangars, flight simulators, warehouses and classrooms. The lighting controls and fixture replacements were meant to reduce the overall lighting load and power consumption on the AFB. This project also included the design-build replacement of multiple air handling units and space heaters.

April 2012 – Gephart Earns Sam’s Town RV Park Project
This Southeastern Companies project at Sam’s Town Casino Resort & Gambling Hall in Robinsonville, MS involves the demolition of the Mississippi River flood damaged park and replacing it with 75 new slips. The slips include 61 pull-through type, all to be equipped with 50 amp RV park pedestals. This design-build, fast-track project is slated to open this summer.
April 2012 – Gephart Electric’s Third Annual Crawfish Boil A Big Success
Gephart Electric’s Mississippi office welcomed 200 guests to the Third Annual Crawfish Boil. The crowd enjoyed crawfish (650 pounds of it!) along with catfish, frid dill pickles and fried green tomatoes from the famous Hollywood Cafe. Highlighting the evening was the performance of blues singer Mark “The Mule Man” Massey and his band.This has become a regular must-attend event for the Mid-South construction community so please join us if you’re in the area next April!
March 2012 – Gephart Wraps Up M.C. Stiles WWTF Cogeneration Facility
Gephart Electric was the prime design/build contractor to the City of Memphis for the construction of a cogeneration facility at the M.C. Stiles WWTF. Biogas generated by the wastewater treatment process was captured, conditioned and delivered to the power generation system. A 12,470 volt internal combustion generator was placed to consume the conditioned biogas. The generator power was delivered to the utility company for resale to offset the overall electric utility costs for the entire plant. This project was completed on-time and under budget, with an expectation of reduced emissions of approximately 4,624 tons per year and annual power savings in excess of $650,000 per year.
March 2012 – Gephart Electric Wraps Up MN Sex Offenders Program Project
This Adolfson & Peterson project included 117,000 SF of new construction and 36,000 SF of renovation work at the MN Sex Offenders Program facility in Moose Lake, MN. Included in the expansion/renovation was a full-service kitchen, dining rooms for 180 patients, patient treatment rooms, laundry spaces, education spaces, religious spaces, canteen/mart, industry spaces, staff offices, general facility warehouse, security staff offices, shops & offices for maintenance personnel, office spaces for treatment staff, office space for administrative personnel, new staff training rooms, new staff locker rooms, an expanded patient visiting room, relocated and expanded patient intake area, relocated and expanded hearings and investigations area, and expanded medical services area. There was also a significant expansion of the perimeter security fence system.
March 2012 – Gephart Electric Awarded the Unity Church-Unitarian
This McGough project consists of the remodeling of 40,000 SF of existing worship, education and office space with 5,000 SFof new additions. A new entry courtyard will also be constructed. Gephart’s work focuses on the electrical infrastructure, lighting control and fire alarm upgrades.
February 2012 – Gephart Electric Selected for the NEA Baptist Cancer Center
Gephart is pleased to continue its relationships with Baptist Memorial Hospital and Hoar Construction. This project in Jonesboro, AR consists of a 34,000 SF outpatient cancer center on the campus of the new NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. The Center for Cancer Care will be the first of its kind in the region and brings together the area’s most respected oncology physicians in one extraordinary new facility housing research, diagnostics, treatment and support. The project is schedule to be completed in the summer of 2013.
December 2011 – Gephart Electric Completes Crown Cork & Seal Can Line Conversion
Working directly for Crown Cork & Seal in Batesville, MS, Gephart provided all power and control wiring to convert two existing 12-ounce aluminum can lines to 16-ounce lines. This included the replacement and upgrade of the can decorators (which paint and label the cans), the decorator ovens, the internal can lining spray system and the liner ovens.

The IBEW in partnership with King of Kings Woodbury creates an annual Holiday Lights in the Park display. The drive-through show of more than 50 giant light sculptures and animated displays is located in Phalen Park, St. Paul. November 2011 – Gephart Electric Closes Out Baptist Golden Triangle Behavioral Health Center
Working with Inman EMJ Construction, Gephart successfully completed the Baptist Golden Triangle Behavioral Health Center in Columbus, MS. This new 33,050 SF facility includes 30 patient rooms, a dining area, nurses’ station, support staff areas, and administrative offices. It offers complete care for patients facing behavioral and mental health, substance abuse and chemical dependency issues.
October 2011 – Gephart Electric Awarded University of Minnesota Physics and Nanotechnology Building
Partnering with Mortenson Construction, the Physics and Nanotechnology building will be home to 200 faculty, post doctorate and graduate students and will provide space for visiting researchers. The 145,000 SF, 5-level building will provide modern and highly flexible physics laboratory and laboratory support space, and nanotechnology space (including 10,000 SF of clean room). All told, the facility will contain 40 new research laboratories. Gephart’s 50th project for the University kicks off this fall and will be complete by August of 2013.
September 2011 – Gephart Electric Awarded Nova Classical Academy Project
This RJM project is the construction of a new 90,000 SF charter school. The completed building will have three stories of classrooms and music rooms, as well as a commons area, stage and gymnasium.
September 2011 – Gephart Electric Awarded Cambridge Medical Center Project
This Kraus-Anderson Construction project being done for Allina Health Systems’ Cambridge Clinic involves the construction of a new 26,000 SF Emergency Department. The new department will attach to the existing facility and offer 17 Treatment Rooms, two Trauma Rooms and two Stabilization Rooms. There will also be lobby, triage and common nurse core areas to make the treatment and care of patients easier for nurses and doctors. A new, three-stall ambulance garage will be constructed as well.
September 2011 – Gephart Electric Awarded Regina Medical Center Project
Working with Kraus-Anderson Construction, this Long-Term Care addition and remodel project will add a new 3,500 SF resident wing onto the Medical Center. The new facility will have six resident rooms, a dayroom, a nurse station and support rooms. Remodel work will encompass interior finishes of the corridors, patient rooms, dayroom, shower rooms, office area and nurse station. The six existing resident rooms and dining facilities will also be enlarged.
September 2011 – Gephart Electric Awarded Methodist Hospitals Generator Project
Gephart was selected by Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare to provide a new emergency generator system at their Methodist Healthcare – South facility in Memphis, TN. This design-build project will reconfigure the electrical distribution system and add a new generator to provide additional emergency back-up power to the patient care areas of this major hospital facility.
September 2011 – Gephart Electric Completes Four Winds Hartford Casino
Following upon the success of the Four Winds Casino Resort which opened in New Buffalo, MI in 2007, Gephart was selected by Christman/Kraus-Anderson to build a new satellite casino for the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi in Hartford, MI. This fast-track project was delivered in only seven months and in time for the Labor Day holiday weekend. August 2011 – Gephart Electric Awarded University of Minnesota Lind Hall Project
Working with general contractor McGough, this will be a complete gut and remodel of the entire first floor of Lind Hall. Upgrades include new lighting, power distribution, fire alarm and access control. A new computer lab was also created in the basement as a result of the work taking place on first floor. The project will be completed in spring 2012.
August 2011 – Gephart Electric Awarded University of Minnesota Nolte Center Project
Working with general contractor JE Dunn, this is a remodel of the second and third floors of the Nolte Center. The project includes upgrades such as new lighting, fire alarm and power distribution. Offices are being remodeled as well with new surface raceway for power and telecom. The project will be complete in December of 2011.

Building on our work constructing the zoo’s Russia’s Grizzly Coast exhibit in 2008, we are now working on the new Black Bear exhibit adjacent to the Minnesota Trail and Tropics building. July 2011 – Gephart Electric Part of Electrical Team Awarded West Haymarket Arena Project
The construction manager team of Mortenson-Hampton has announced the locally owned entity of ABC Electric, Gregg Electric and Gephart Electric has been awarded the West Haymarket Arena project in Lincoln, NE. The approximately 450,000 SF arena will seat over 16,000 and take two years to build. Once completed it will feature the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) men’s and women’s basketball teams as tenants and host civic functions, concerts, etc.
April 2011 – Gephart Electric Awarded University of Minnesota UMore Park Wind Turbine Project
Working with Ryan Companies, Gephart will install a U.S.-made, 2.5-megawatt Clipper Liberty wind turbine on the University of Minnesota Outreach Research and Education (UMore) Park property in Dakota County. The turbine tower is 263 feet tall with the height of the turbine from the base of the tower to the tip of the blade being 415 feet. The turbine and related infrastructure will be the focal point of research and education programs studying renewable energy and environmental quality.
February 2011 – Gephart Electric Awarded Semiconductor Manufacturing Facility Project
Gephart was selected by Knutson Construction Services for this design-build project of an 80,000 SF semiconductor fabrication facility. The manufacturing space includes 10 cleanrooms and will expand the Owner’s ability to make micro-electrical mechanical systems, tiny silicon wafer sensors central to many of the company’s products.
January 2011 – Gephart Electric Awarded M.C. Stiles WWTF Cogeneration Project
Gephart Electric was awarded a design-build contract by the City of Memphis to provide a cogeneration facility at its M.C. Stiles WWTF under the DOE Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program. This new facility will divert waste biogas from the plant’s sludge lagoons through a conditioning system and then to an internal combustion generator which will consume the biogas and produce electric power for resale to the utility and heat to a forced air heating unit within the existing facility. The City will realize hundreds of thousands of dollars per year in net utility power savings, and will reduce the current plant emissions by over 4,500 tons per year. The facility is expected to be operational by April of 2012.
January 2011 – Gephart Electric Getting Started on the SAGE Manufacturing Plant Project
Gephart is now on site at the SAGE Electrochromics manufacturing plant job in Faribault, MN. The project is being done with Ryan Companies and SAGE, maker of energy-efficient architectual glass. When completed in late 2012, the 300,000 SF facility will be the world’s largest and most advanced electrochromic glass manufacturing facility.
December 2010 – Gephart Electric Awarded Peer House Project
Led by McGough Construction, this project consists of remodeling a three-level brick and dimensional lumber hotel/warehouse originally constructed in the early 1900’s in the Saint Anthony Falls Historic District in Minneapolis. This 18,000 SF job will consist of a complete exterior restoration/replacement as well as an interior build-out including a bar, restaurant and retail space. Everything is expected to be completed by the end of May 2011.
December 2010 – Joel Lewis Wins Chamber of Commerce Election in Tunica County, MS
Joel Lewis of Gephart Electric’s Robinsonville, MS office has been elected to a two-year term on the Tunica County Chamber of Commerce. Established in 1956, the Tunica Chamber of Commerce is an organization dedicated to growing and diversifying the county economy, creating a strong community with opportunities for all citizens and providing a prime quality of life. The Tunica County Chamber of Commerce has more than 300 members.
November 2010 – Gephart Electric is Recognized by the American Cancer Society

Working with general contractor Mortenson Construction, this project entails constructing the new, 60,000 SF global headquarters for the American Academy of Neurology. Located in Minneapolis’s Mill District, the building is expected to be complete Spring 2012.
October 2010 – Gephart Electric Awarded Ford Centre Project
Working with general contractor RJM Construction, Gephart Electric will be upgrading the 11-story Ford Centre in Minneapolis into a Class A-type office building. Originally built in 1913, the revitalized Ford Centre will have new, energy efficient windows, a new entry off the visitor parking lot, a new main-level hallway with 18-foot ceilings, and new elevators and mechanical systems. Work is expected to be completed Summer 2012.

April 2010 – Gephart Electric Participates in Opening Day at Target Field
After over two years of construction, Opening Day finally arrived at the MN Twins Target Field in Minneapolis, MN. As the holder of the largest subcontract on the project, Gephart Electric was proud to participate in the Opening Day ceremonies of this 1,000,000-plus SF baseball jewel of the North. Forty Gephart employees volunteered as flag bearers, unfurling a 300 ft. by 150 ft. American flag for the National Anthem.
March 2010 – Gephart Electric Awarded Wastewater Treatment Plant Project
Working with general contractor Gridor Construction, the project will include a modification of the existing Beaver Channel Station Plant and the addition of a new wastewater treatment plant for the expanding community of Clinton, IA. The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2012.

Gephart Electric has been awarded the contract for the UTM Communications Tower at the University of Tennessee located in Martin, Tennessee. Working with general contractor Diversified Contractors, Inc. and the University of Tennessee, this engineered project will include the construction of a pre-fabricated data room and cellular communications tower for the university.
March 2010 – Gephart Electric Awarded T.E. Maxson Waste Water Treatment Plant
Gephart Electric has been awarded the contract for the T.E. Maxson Waste Water Treatment Plant in Memphis, Tennessee. Working with the city of Memphis and general contractor Chris-Hill Construction, this design/build project consists of replacing the lagoon cover and the installation of rain water removal pumps.
March 2010 – Gephart Electric Awarded United Bankers Bank Low Voltage Project
Gephart Electric had been awarded the contract for the United Bankers Bank, located in the newly constructed 54,000 SF, three-floor facility at in Bloomington, Minnesota. The low voltage project engineered by Elert & Associates will include the installation of over 900 CAT 5E cables as well as copper and fiber connectivity through the three floors in the facility, among other projects. The project is scheduled to be completed in July 2010.
February 2010 – Gephart Electric Awarded Jamestown Regional Medical Center
Gephart Electric has been awarded the contract for the newly built 120,000 SF, ground up Jamestown Regional Medical Center in Jamestown, ND. Working with general contractor Mortenson construction this engineered project will include three Operating and 12 Pre/Post Operating Rooms, Emergency Department with two Trauma rooms and eight Treatment Rooms, an Imaging Center with a CT Scan, 25 Patient and three Labor/Delivery Rooms with Nursery. The facility will also include two 600kw Generators to provide back up power to power critical, life safety and equipment. The project is scheduled to be completed in July 2011.
February 2010 – Gephart Electric Completes Choctaw Casino Resort Project
Gephart Electric wrapped up the 500,706 SF Choctaw Casino Resort project in Durant, OK well in advance of the grand opening ceremonies. Gephart provided turn-key Design/Assist services for both the electrical and low voltage systems work on the project that included a hotel exterior façade light show, over 9,300 light fixtures, three 2000KW 480V utility services and two 2000 KW generator units.
February 2010 – Gephart Electric Awarded Dyersburg Landfill
Gephart Electric has been awarded the contract for the Dyersberg Landfill in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Working with the city of Dyersburg, TN, this engineered project will include the installation of a portable and a fixed generator at the landfill site.

Gephart Electric has been awarded the contract for the renovation of the University of Minnesota Akerman Hall Hangar & Mechanical Engineering Buildings in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Working with general contractor Mortenson Construction, this project will involve the renovation of the Aerospace Engineering Hangar of Akerman Hall, including a completely upgraded electrical service and distribution system along with new lighting and fire alarm. Gephart Electric has been awarded the Westwood Lutheran Church design/build project in St Louis Park, MN. The 14,000 SF church will undergo major restoration and renovation. Working with general contractor Karkela Construction, Gephart will be installing new dimmable recessed lighting and audio video systems, as well as a powered shade system.

Gephart recently earned AMP certification and is now qualified to design, install and service AMP NETCONNECT products. Gephart will be able to offer these services on a Local and National basis, plus offer an AMP NETCONNECT 25-Year Warranty. AMP is a Tyco Electronics Company.
October 2009 – Gephart Electric General Foreman John Peterson Earns Wind Turbine Certification
John Peterson has obtained his Wind Turbine certification at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 343 in Rochester, MN. The wind turbine silo in Rochester is the first of its kind in the nation where members learn safe climbing, electrical installation, and rescue techniques inside a 300 foot wind turbine. This puts John in a small group of electricians across the country with wind turbine certification.
September 2009 – Gephart Electric General Foreman Brad Kanis Earns NABCEP Certification
The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) recently certified Brad Kanis as a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installer. NABCEP certified PV installers have demonstrated the capability to supervise complete PV system installations, and have a detailed working knowledge of the electrical codes, standards and accepted industry practice associated with PV installations. This puts Brad in a small circle of such certified electricians in MN and makes Gephart Electric a great choice for solar installations.

July 2009 – Gephart joins Gunnar Electric in Construction Partnering Program (CCP)
Gephart Electric and woman-owned Gunnar Electric have joined together in the Construction Partnering Program (CPP) which matches general and specialty contractors with emerging woman- and minority-owned firms to mentor and build the capacity of both the owners and the businesses. The CPP is a collaborative effort of the Metropolitan Economic Development Association (MEDA) and the Association of Women Contractors (AWC) and is recognized throughout the Twin Cities and the University of Minnesota by developers and general contractors. With over 70 years of combined electrical contracting experience, Gephart and Gunnar look forward to partnering on specific projects around the Midwest allowing them to take full advantage of their many capabilities and services including electrical construction, low and high voltage systems, design-build/design-assist, and service and maintenance.
