October 2011 – Gephart Electric Awarded University of Minnesota Physics and Nanotechnology Building Partnering with Mortenson Construction, the Physics and Nanotechnology building will be home to 200 faculty, post doctorate and graduate students and will provide space for visiting researchers. The 145,000 SF, 5-level building will provide modern and highly flexible physics laboratory and laboratory support space, and nanotechnology space (including 10,000 SF of clean room). All told, the facility will contain 40 new research laboratories. Gephart’s 50th project for the University kicks off this fall and will be complete by August of 2013.

September 2011 - Gephart Electric Awarded Nova Classical Academy Project                                                    This RJM project is the construction of a new 90,000 SF charter school. The completed building will have three stories of classrooms and music rooms, as well as a commons area, stage and gymnasium. 

September 2011 - Gephart Electric Awarded Cambridge Medical Center Project                                               This Kraus-Anderson Construction project being done for Allina Health Systems' Cambridge Clinic involves the construction of a new 26,000 SF Emergency Department.  The new department will attach to the existing facility and offer 17 Treatment Rooms, two Trauma Rooms and two Stabilization Rooms. There will also be lobby, triage and common nurse core areas to make the treatment and care of patients easier for nurses and doctors. A new, three-stall ambulance garage will ce construected as well.

September 2011 - Gephart Electric Awarded Regina Medical Center Project                                                       Working with Kraus-Anderson Construction, this Long-Term Care addition and remodel project will add a new 3,500 SF resident wing onto the Medical Center. The new facility will have six resident rooms, a dayroom, a nurse station and support rooms. Remodel work will encompass interior finishes of the corridors, patient rooms, dayroom, shower rooms, office area and nurse station.  The six existing resident rooms and dining facilities will also be enlarged.

September 2011 - Gephart Electric Awarded Methodist Hospitals Generator Project                                   Gephart was selected by Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare to provide a new emergency generator system at their Methodist Healthcare – South facility in Memphis, TN.  This design-build project will reconfigure the electrical distribution system and add a new generator to provide additional emergency back-up power to the patient care areas of this major hospital facility.

September 2011 - Gephart Electric Completes Four Winds Hartford Casino                                                             Following upon the success of the Four Winds Casino Resort which opened in New Buffalo, MI in 2007, Gephart was selected by Christman/Kraus-Anderson to build a new satellite casino for the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi in Hartford, MI.  This fast-track project was delivered in only seven months and in time for the Labor Day holiday weekend.  Gephart worked hand-in-hand with Hnedak Bobo Group Architects and FEA Engineers to provide design-assist services for the electrical work, and design-build services for the low voltage systems technologies.  You can view the project at http://www.fourwindscasino.com/hartford/index.asp

September 2011 - Gephart Electric Electrician Blake Toney Earns BICSI Certification                                       Blake Toney of Gephart’s Mississippi office has earned his BICSI Certified Technician Installer certification. This is the most advanced phase of BICSI's Telecommunications Cabling Installation certification.

August 2011 - Gephart Electric Awarded University of Minnesota Lind Hall Project                                         Working with general contractor McGough, this will be a complete gut and remodel of the entire first floor of Lind Hall. Upgrades include new lighting, power distribution, fire alarm and access control. A new computer lab was also created in the basement as a result of the work taking place on first floor. The project will be completed in spring 2012.

August 2011 - Gephart Electric Awarded University of Minnesota Nolte Center Project                                     Working with general contractor JE Dunn, this is a remodel of the second and third floors of the Nolte Center. The project includes upgrades such as new lighting, fire alarm and power distribution. Offices are being remodeled as well with new surface raceway for power and telecom. The project will be complete in December of 2011.

August 2011 - Gephart Electric Project Managers/Estimators Earn PIPS Certifications                                Gephart Electric Project Managers/Estimators Andrew Vander Meulen and Drew Herman of Gephart's Minnesota office have earned their Best Value Certification for the Performance Information Procurement System (PIPS) program recognized by the University of Minnesota and agencies around the state.

July 2011 - Gephart Electric Awarded MN Zoo Black Bear Exhibit Project                                                              Building on our work constructing the zoo's Russia's Grizzly Coast exhibit in 2008, we are now working on the new Black Bear exhibit adjacent to the Minnesota Trail and Tropics building. The work entails selective demolition, site work, new construction and tying into the exisiting facility's teledata, fire alarm and security systems.

July 2011 - Gephart Electric Participates in White Bear Lake Relay for Life                                                                On July 29th the White Bear Lake chapter of the American Cancer Society held its 17th annual Relay for Life, a fundraising event celebrating the lives of those who have battled cancer and remembering those who lost their life to the disease. Gephart is proud to have participated in the event as a company sponsor, donating and installing temporary power for the event's main stage.

July 2011 - Gephart Electric Part of Electrical Team Awarded West Haymarket Arena Project                            The construction manager team of Mortenson-Hampton has announced the locally owned entity of ABC Electric, Gregg Electric and Gephart Electric has been awarded the West Haymarket Arena project in Lincoln, NE. The approximately 450,000 SF arena will seat over 16,000 and take two years to build. Once completed it will feature the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) men's and women's basketball teams as tenants and host civic functions, concerts, etc.

April 2011 – Gephart Electric Awarded University of Minnesota UMore Park Wind Turbine Project
Working with Ryan Companies, Gephart will install a U.S.-made, 2.5-megawatt Clipper Liberty wind turbine on the University of Minnesota Outreach Research and Education (UMore) Park property in Dakota County. The turbine tower is 263 feet tall with the height of the turbine from the base of the tower to the tip of the blade being 415 feet. The turbine and related infrastructure will be the focal point of research and education programs studying renewable energy and environmental quality.

April 2011 – Gephart Electric’s Second Annual Crawfish Boil A Big Success                                                       Gephart Electric’s Mississippi office welcomed 200 guests to the Second Annual Crawfish Boil. This year the event featured the grand opening of our newly remodeled office space designed by the Crump Firm and built by Grinder Taber Grinder, both of Memphis, TN. In addition to getting a look at the new space, everyone enjoyed mounds of crawfish along with The Hollywood Café’s world famous fried dill pickles and catfish, and the Delta blues sounds of Mark “The Mule Man” Massey and his band.

January 2011 - Gephart Electric Awarded M.C. Stiles WWTF Cogeneration Project                                        Gephart Electric was awarded a design-build contract by the City of Memphis to provide a cogeneration facility at its M.C. Stiles WWTF under the DOE Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.  This new facility will divert waste biogas from the plant’s sludge lagoons through a conditioning system and then to an internal combustion generator which will consume the biogas and produce electric power for resale to the utility and heat to a forced air heating unit within the existing facility.  The City will realize hundreds of thousands of dollars per year in net utility power savings, and will reduce the current plant emissions by over 4,500 tons per year.  The facility is expected to be operational by April of 2012.

January 2011 - Gephart Electric Getting Started on the SAGE Manufacturing Plant Project
Gephart is now on site at the SAGE Electrochromics manufacturing plant job in Faribault, MN. The project is being done with Ryan Companies and SAGE, maker of energy-efficient architectual glass. When completed in late 2012, the 300,000 SF facility will be the world's largest and most advanced electrochromic glass manufacturing facility.

December 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded Peer House Project
Led by McGough Construction, this project consists of remodeling a three-level brick and dimensional lumber hotel/warehouse originally constructed in the early 1900's in the Saint Anthony Falls Historic District in Minneapolis. This 18,000 SF job will consist of a complete exterior restoration/replacement as well as an interior build-out including a bar, restaurant and retail space. Everything is expected to be completed by the end of May 2011.

December 2010 - Gephart Electric is a Proud Sponsor of the Holiday Lights in the Park
The  IBEW in partnership with King of Kings Woodbury creates an annual Holiday Lights in the Park display. The drive-through show of more than 50 giant light sculptures and animated displays is located in Phalen Park, St. Paul. Proceeds from from this event go to charities such as Second Harvest Heartland, Union Gospel Mission, St. Paul Parks Conservancy and Underconstruction. December 2010 - Joel Lewis Wins Chamber of Commerce Election in Tunica County, MS
Joel Lewis of Gephart Electric's Robinsonville, MS office has been elected to a two-year term on the Tunica County Chamber of Commerce. Established in 1956, the Tunica Chamber of Commerce is an organization dedicated to growing and diversifying the county economy, creating a strong community with opportunities for all citizens and providing a prime quality of life. The Tunica County Chamber of Commerce has more than 300 members.

November 2010 - Gephart Electric is Recognized by the American Cancer Society
Melissa Marquis, American Cancer Society Community Relations Manager, along with ACS volunteers Keith Warner and John Evans presented Gephart Electric with a plaque from the American Cancer Society for Gephart's work with the White Bear Lake Area Relay for Life event. Gephart is proud to have participated each of the the last two years as a company sponsor by donating and setting up a generator to power the main stage at the event.

October 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded the American Academy of Neurology Project
Working with general contractor Mortenson Construction, this project entails constructing the new, 60,000 SF global headquarters for the American Academy of Neurology. Located in Minneapolis's Mill District, the building is expected to be complete Spring 2012.

October 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded Ford Centre Project
Working with general contractor RJM Construction, Gephart Electric will be upgrading the 11-story Ford Centre in Minneapolis into a Class A-type office building. Originally built in 1913, the revitalized Ford Centre will have new, energy efficient windows, a new entry off the visitor parking lot, a new main-level hallway with 18-foot ceilings, and new elevators and mechanical systems. Work is expected to be completed Summer 2012.

July 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded Minneapolis Public Schools Headquarters Project
In conjunction with Mortenson Construction, Gephart Electric has been selected to build the new MPS Educational Servce Center. The 173,000 SF building will consolidate the district's central administration staff into one location. The project is expected to be completed Summer 2012.

July 2010 - Gephart Electric Participates in Relay for Life
On July 30 th , the White Bear Lake chapter of the American Cancer Society held its 16 th annual Relay for Life, a fundraising event that celebrates the lives of those who have  battled cancer and remembers those whose lives were lost to the disease.  Teams camped out on the high school athletic field and team members took turns walking the track for twelve hours to raise money for this great organization. Gephart Electric is proud to have participated in the event as a company sponsor by donating a generator to power the main stage at the event.

July 2010 – Target Field and Xcel Energy Center are Two of the Best
According to ESPN: The Magazine's eighth annual “Ultimate Standings,” Target Field and Xcel Energy Center offer two of the best stadium experiences out of any professional sports stadiums in the country. Target Field was ranked #1 followed by Lambeau Field and then Xcel Energy Center with the analysis based on the quality of arena and game-day promotions, as well as friendliness of environment. Great news for these two Gephart Electric projects!

May 2010 – Sharp Solar Solutions Certifications
Michael Belue and Joel Lewis of Gephart Electric’s Mississippi office recently completed training with Sharp Solar Energy Solutions to become Sharp Solar Certified Installers.

April 2010 – Gephart Electric Participates in Opening Day at Target Field
After over two years of construction, Opening Day finally arrived at the MN Twins Target Field in Minneapolis, MN. As the holder of the largest subcontract on the project, Gephart Electric was proud to participate in the Opening Day ceremonies of this 1,000,000-plus SF baseball jewel of the North. Forty Gephart employees volunteered as flag bearers, unfurling a 300 ft. by 150 ft. American flag for the National Anthem.

March 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded Wastewater Treatment Plant Project
Working with general contractor Gridor Construction, the project will include a modification of the existing Beaver Channel Station Plant and the addition of a new wastewater treatment plant for the expanding community of Clinton, IA. The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2012. 

March 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded Hollywood Casino and Hotel UPS Project
Gephart Electric has been awarded the contract for the Hollywood Casino and Hotel in Tunica, Mississippi. This design/build project will include the installation of a Mitsubishi 500 KVA UPS System.

March 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded UTM Communications Tower
Gephart Electric has been awarded the contract for the UTM Communications Tower at the University of Tennessee located in Martin, Tennessee. Working with general contractor Diversified Contractors, Inc. and the University of Tennessee, this engineered project will include the construction of a pre-fabricated data room and cellular communications tower for the university.

March 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded T.E. Maxson Waste Water Treatment Plant
Gephart Electric has been awarded the contract for the T.E. Maxson Waste Water Treatment Plant in Memphis, Tennessee. Working with the city of Memphis and general contractor Chris-Hill Construction, this design/build project consists of replacing the lagoon cover and the installation of rain water removal pumps.

March 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded United Bankers Bank Low Voltage Project
Gephart Electric had been awarded the contract for the United Bankers Bank, located in the newly constructed 54,000 SF, three-floor facility at in Bloomington, Minnesota. The low voltage project engineered by Elert & Associates will include the installation of over 900 CAT 5E cables as well as copper and fiber connectivity through the three floors in the facility, among other projects. The project is scheduled to be completed in July 2010.

February 2010 – Gephart Electric Awarded Jamestown Regional Medical Center
Gephart Electric has been awarded the contract for the newly built 120,000 SF, ground up Jamestown Regional Medical Center in Jamestown, ND. Working with general contractor Mortenson construction this engineered project will include three Operating and 12 Pre/Post Operating Rooms, Emergency Department with two Trauma rooms and eight Treatment Rooms, an Imaging Center with a CT Scan, 25 Patient and three Labor/Delivery Rooms with Nursery. The facility will also include two 600kw Generators to provide back up power to power critical, life safety and equipment. The project is scheduled to be completed in July 2011.

February 2010 – Gephart Electric Completes Choctaw Casino Resort Project
Gephart Electric wrapped up the 500,706 SF Choctaw Casino Resort project in Durant, OK well in advance of the grand opening ceremonies. Gephart provided turn-key Design/Assist services for both the electrical and low voltage systems work on the project that included a hotel exterior façade light show, over 9,300 light fixtures, three 2000KW 480V utility services and two 2000 KW generator units.

February 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded Dyersburg Landfill
Gephart Electric has been awarded the contract for the Dyersberg Landfill in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Working with the city of Dyersburg, TN, this engineered project will include the installation of a portable and a fixed generator at the landfill site.

February 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded Mason Tennessee Water Treatment Plant
Gephart Electric has been awarded the contract for the Mason Tennessee Water Treatment Plant in Mason, Tennessee. Working with the town of Mason, TN and general contractor Ronald Franks Construction Co. LLC, this engineered project will involve upgrading the current municipal water system.

February 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded University of Minnesota Akerman Hall
Gephart Electric has been awarded the contract for the renovation of the University of Minnesota Akerman Hall Hangar & Mechanical Engineering Buildings in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Working with general contractor Mortenson Construction, this project will involve the renovation of the Aerospace Engineering Hangar of Akerman Hall, including a completely upgraded electrical service and distribution system along with new lighting and fire alarm. The project is scheduled to be completed in August 2010.

January 2010 - Gephart Electric Awarded Humphrey Terminal Skyway Project
PCL is the General Contractor for this $13,000,000 project taking place at the Humphrey airport terminal in Minneapolis, MN. The project consists of a terminal expansion and the construction of a new skyway linking the terminal with the Orange Parking Ramp.

January 2010 - Gephart Low Voltage Systems Now an Authorized Dealer for Electro Voice Products.

December 2009 - Gephart Electric Awarded Westwood Lutheran Church Project
Gephart Electric has been awarded the Westwood Lutheran Church design/build project in St Louis Park, MN. The 14,000 SF church will undergo major restoration and renovation. Working with general contractor Karkela Construction, Gephart will be installing new dimmable recessed lighting and audio video systems, as well as a powered shade system.

October 2009 - Gephart Low Voltage Systems Now AMP Certified
Gephart recently earned AMP certification and is now qualified to design, install and service AMP NETCONNECT products. Gephart will be able to offer these services on a Local and National basis, plus offer an AMP NETCONNECT 25-Year Warranty. AMP is a Tyco Electronics Company.

October 2009 - Gephart Electric General Foreman John Peterson Earns Wind Turbine Certification
John Peterson has obtained his Wind Turbine certification at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 343 in Rochester, MN. The wind turbine silo in Rochester is the first of its kind in the nation where members learn safe climbing, electrical installation, and rescue techniques inside a 300 foot wind turbine. This puts John in a small group of electricians across the country with wind turbine certification.

September 2009 - Gephart Electric General Foreman Brad Kanis Earns NABCEP Certification
The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) recently certified Brad Kanis as a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installer. NABCEP certified PV installers have demonstrated the capability to supervise complete PV system installations, and have a detailed working knowledge of the electrical codes, standards and accepted industry practice associated with PV installations. This puts Brad in a small circle of such certified electricians in MN and makes Gephart Electric a great choice for solar installations.

August 2009 - Gephart Electrical Estimator/Project Manager Mike Murphy Earns PIPS Certification
Mike Murphy, Gephart Electric Estimator/Project Manager has earned his Best Value Certification for the Performance Information Procurement System (PIPS) program recognized by the University of Minnesota.

August 2009 - Gephart Electric Estimator/Project Manager Kyle Heinsch Achieves LEED AP Certification.

August 2009 - Gephart Low Voltage Systems Earns Siemon and Bogen Certification
Gephart Low Voltage Systems has secured top tier relationships with The Siemon Company and Bogen Communications. These companies are premier providers of voice and data cabling services, public address, paging, professional sound systems, and educational communications services. The Siemon Company is the standard for cabling at HCMC, Olmstead County, Deloitte, and many others. Being a Bogen dealer provides Gephart with factory resources and highly competitive price points plus a locked educational territory covering northern Minnesota.

July 2009 - Gephart joins Gunnar Electric in Construction Partnering Program (CCP)
Gephart Electric and woman-owned Gunnar Electric have joined together in the Construction Partnering Program (CPP) which matches general and specialty contractors with emerging woman- and minority-owned firms to mentor and build the capacity of both the owners and the businesses. The CPP is a collaborative effort of the Metropolitan Economic Development Association (MEDA) and the Association of Women Contractors (AWC) and is recognized throughout the Twin Cities and the University of Minnesota by developers and general contractors. With over 70 years of combined electrical contracting experience, Gephart and Gunnar look forward to partnering on specific projects around the Midwest allowing them to take full advantage of their many capabilities and services including electrical construction, low and high voltage systems, design-build/design-assist, and service and maintenance. Gunnar Electric is currently one of Gephart Electric’s SWBE partners on the Minnesota Twins Target Field project.
